Maisonette apartment – between past and present

The historic building is being renovated in close co-operation with the Basel-Stadt heritage conservation authority. The protected parts of the building such as the facade, the roof, the banisters, the staircase, the doors, the windows, the shutters, the lambrequins, the stucco work, the rosettes and the tiles are being carefully renovated and protected. However, the modern conveniences of modern housing are not neglected. The entire building services will be modernised to meet today's standards. A passenger lift with direct access to the apartment, a modern kitchen with high-quality appliances, energy-efficient LED lighting with motion sensors in the common areas, a solar panel with video and a radio-controlled consumer meter will be installed. The bathroom will be fitted with appliances, fittings and furniture. Tailor-made design and perceptual aspects such as the choice of materials, furnishings and the colour and lighting concept can be worked out together with the future residents.
