Vairano (frazione of San Nazzaro) lies 201 metres above sea level and has a population of around 705. From here you have a wonderful view of the Maggia delta, the Verzasca valley, Ascona, Locarno and the surrounding mountains. It has its own lido with bar and beautiful sunbathing area, a boat landing stage from where you can travel directly to Ascona, among other places, and its own railway station. The many sights in this region include the Eisenhut Botanical Garden in Vairano, the Sass da Grüm (Place of Power) and the mountain village of Indemini. In addition, the ‘Monti’ above the Ticino villages in Gambarogno are ideal for wonderful hikes.
