The tourist village of Vira is located directly on the shore of Lake Maggiore and has about 705 inhabitants. From here you have a beautiful view of the Maggia delta, the Valle Verzasca, Locarno and the surrounding mountains. It has a lovely beach with a bar and a beautiful sunbathing area and a boat landing stage from where you can travel to Ascona and Locarno, among other places. Vira also has its own railway station, post office, bank and small supermarket. Among the many sights in this region are the Botanical Garden Eisenhut in Vairano and the mountain village Indemini.
