Historical house from the 15th century restored in Bejís
Preu

Engel & Völkers is honored to present a historic building in one of the best locations in Bejís, known as the "Granero del Infante" (Infant’s Granary). Built in the 15th century, the building is named after the last commander of Bejís, Infante Francisco de Paula, son of King Carlos IV, who held this position from 1802 to 1865. Currently, the building is divided into two private residences that still feature the original heraldic symbols: the Cross of Calatrava, which indicates its construction under the Order of Calatrava; the chain links, symbolizing its connection to the order; and the three shells representing the influential Conchillos family. Frey García de Conchillos, commander of the Bejís Order between 1526 and 1545 and brother of Lope de Conchillos, personal secretary to King Ferdinand the Catholic, likely ordered the placement of these heraldic symbols during a renovation of the building. The property has been recently remodeled, preserving its historic facade while modernizing the interior. It consists of four floors, with the ground floor open-plan, featuring perimeter stone walls and equipped with a bathroom, oil heating system with tank, auxiliary water tank, pressure pump, and a traditional Moorish oven. From here, there is access to a patio leading to a garden with fruit trees and ornamental plants, as well as a basement converted into a wine cellar that retains its historic charm with stone walls, herringbone brick flooring, and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams. The second floor, fully renovated, includes a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and balcony with mountain views, a fully equipped kitchen, service bathroom, an interior room, and a living-dining room with balconies and a terrace, all with magnificent views of the Sierra de Espadán. A fireplace with a cassette insert in the living room adds warmth to winter evenings. The third floor, like the first, is open-plan and features balconies with views of the interior patio and the mountains. The building also allows the possibility of separating the three main floors, making it ideal for tourist use without losing its residential value. Additionally, it includes a garage for one vehicle, making this property a unique opportunity to live in a place rich in history, surrounded by an unparalleled natural environment.

Bejís. Located in the province of Castellón, in the Alto Palancia region, between the foothills of the El Toro mountain range and the Andilla mountain range, on a hill at an altitude of 800 m, surrounded by the Palancia and Canales rivers. The easiest way to get there is via the A-23 motorway from Sagunto to Teruel, as far as the outskirts of Viver, where it connects with the CV-236. The village is 71 km from Valencia and 79 km from Castellón. The various cave paintings testify to the existence of human settlements 10,000 years ago, although the origin of the current population is Roman. One of the important monuments is the Roman aqueduct with seven arches, and another is the castle at the top of the village. Water (nowadays bottled), together with inland tourism, is still the driving force of the economy. Places of interest are - Aqueduct. From Roman times and recently restored.
