La Cala de Mijas is a town belonging to the municipality of Mijas, in the province of Malaga, in southern Spain. In the heart of the Costa del Sol, La Cala de Mijas is located in the coastal area of the municipality, except for some rocky areas between the limits of Fuengirola, to the east, and Marbella, to the west. La Cala de Mijas is a small population center less than a kilometer long. With a population of more than 4,000 inhabitants, the town is dedicated to sun and beach and residential tourism, although it has some municipal services such as health centers, schools, a cultural center and a library, which are located in La Cala de Mijas and which, although located in said municipality, are intended for all residents of the coastal area of the municipality of Mijas. Of ecological importance is the seabed of the Mijas coast, which is home to a great biodiversity in which a large number of European, African, Atlantic and Mediterranean species coexist.
