Of Arab origin, it has a varied cast of medieval monuments, both religious and civil. It is located on the banks of the River Mijares, a few kilometers from its mouth, on flat terrain with slight undulations. Its main activity is ceramics and the cultivation of citrus. The municipality of Almassora borders the towns of Castellón de la Plana and its maritime district Grao de Castellón, Villarreal, Onda and Burriana and its El Arenal beach, all of them in the province of Castellón. Almassora has a long beach where fine sand and pebbles are mixed. Flanked by a long promenade, it has a good number of services, including a summer library.
