Mijas Pueblo is the beautiful nucleus of the extensive municipality of Mijas, which lies more than 400 metres above sea level and about 10 km from the coast. The area of Mijas Pueblo is situated in the north of the municipality, bordering the municipalities of Ojén, Alhaurín el Grande, Alhaurín de la Torre, Benalmádena and Fuengirola. Mijas Pueblo is one of the jewels of the Costa del Sol whose charm attracts foreigners, artists and writers who have made it their home over the years. Although visited by a multitude of tourists it has managed to retain much of its traditional Andalusian lifestyle.
