Calefacció central independentAt the end of the Gran Vía or just at the beginning, depending on how you look at it, the Plaza de España is a real magnet for visitors. And not only because it hosts one of the most photographed monuments in Madrid, in honor of Miguel de Cervantes, with Don Quixote and Sancho Panza as protagonists. Also for being the link between the Sabatini Gardens, the Campo del Moro, the Casa de Campo and Madrid Rio. After a profound transformation, it is, with its 70,000 m2, one of the new central axes of the city, a green space -it has 1,110 trees-, with sculptures, children's playgrounds and cycle paths. During the works to transform the square, the remains of the walkway of the old Cuartel de San Gil, the stables of the Royal Palace and the former Palace of Godoy, Carlos IV's favorite and prime minister, all designed by the architect Francesco Sabatini, author of the Puerta de Alcalá, were uncovered. The Plaza de España is a fantastic starting point for exploring the surrounding area, from the Palacio de Liria or the Cerralbo Museum, just a few steps away, to the Parque del Oeste and the Temple of Debod.
