El Espinar is a municipality belonging to the region of Segovia and has a population of around 10,000 inhabitants. Located at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range and crossed by the N-6 national road and the AP-6 motorway linking Madrid with La Coruña, the municipality occupies the transition between the mountains and the Castilian plateau. The town of El Espinar has important buildings. The wealth of the wool trade gave rise to a series of buildings, both civil and religious, which have survived to the present day. In addition to these buildings, there are also ‘natural monuments’. The Sierra de Guadarrama is a mountain range belonging to the eastern half of the Sistema Central, a mountain range in the interior of the Iberian Peninsula. The flora of this mountain range is characterised by the abundance of Scots pine forests and the presence of oak and holm oak groves in lower areas. The summits are dominated by high mountain pastures and shrubs. In these ecosystems there is an abundance of mammals such as deer, wild boar, mountain goats, roe deer, fallow deer, badgers, various mustelids, wild cats, foxes and hares. There are a large number of species of aquatic birds in the reservoirs, and large birds of prey such as the imperial eagle or the black vulture, among others. Main distances: To Segovia 33 Km.
