En progrésTrujillo has gone through all the stages of History, from town Roman to medieval city, which has helped it obtain the titles of Very Noble, Very Loyal, Distinguished and Very Heroic City. Since 1528 it was the capital of the province of Trujillo, integrated as party of the province of Salamanca in 1591, until the creation of the province of Extremadura in 1653.34 In the town they were born, among others, Francisco Pizarro, conqueror of Peru, whose sculpture equestrian stands in the Plaza Mayor, and Francisco de Orellana, discoverer of the Amazon River. Its historical importance, its location, its natural environment and its gastronomy have made Trujillo an important tourist center of Estremadura. Of its monuments, some of them protected, Highlights include the castle (old Arab fortress), the church of Santa María the Mayor (13th century) and the palaces of the Plaza Mayor. Furthermore, in Trujillo celebrates two festivals of regional tourist interest, the Chíviri and Trujillana Holy Week,5 and other events such as the Fair National Cheese and Agricultural Fair
