The district is named after the symbolic Retiro Park, an ancient royal garden where the Buen Retiro Palace was set. Its gardens have multiple interior promenades, ponds and dense groves. The Niño Jesús district borders on the north with Alcalde Sainz de Baranda Street, Doctor Esquerdo Street, Ciudad de Barcelona Avenue and Meléndez Pelayo Avenue, which borders the eastern part of the park.
