The territory of Piegaro is mostly hilly, in fact only a fifth of it is flat. There are two hill ranges that distinguish it and that delimit the course of the Nestore river; the northernmost one is grown with cereals, vines and olive trees, while the southernmost one is covered with woods of holm oaks, oaks, chestnuts and pines. The most important relief is Montarale (853 meters above sea level). From here it is possible to have a view of the upper Orvieto area (municipalities of Fabro, Monteleone d'Orvieto and others). Piegaro is about 10 km from Città della Pieve and about 25 km from the motorway exits of Fabro Scalo and Chiusi - Chianciano Terme; at the same time it is 30 km far from Perugia. Piegaro is a very well renowned center for glass processing, whose beginnings are dated back to the thirteenth century: in fact in the heart of the town you can admire the ancient glass factory that has housed the Glass Museum since April 2009.
