Castiglione del Lago is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and lies on a promontory in the center of the west shore of Lake Trasimeno, on the border with Tuscany. The Borgo still preserves the ruins of the ancient Fortress of the Lion, today an open-air theater / cinema, and the Ducal Palace inside which an interesting museum itinerary has been created. The village is the scene of numerous events throughout the year such as the largest Christmas tree in the world drawn on the water, the tulip festival, the spring meeting, the international festival of folklore, an important film festival in addition to the musical events among which the Trasimeno Blues deserves particular mention. Thanks to the presence of the railway station and the easy road connections it is an ideal starting point for visiting all the places in central Italy, from Rome to Florence, from Siena to the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts.
