The villa is located just outside the village of Sant’Andrea Bagni, a locality in the hills of Parma, about 20 kilometers away from the city. Perched on the top of a hill, among oak and chestnut woods, Sant’Andrea Bagni has always been a famous spa town. Its unique feature is the collection of mineral waters in a single hydrothermal basin for various therapies. There are eight different natural waters, drawn from deep within the rock and brought to the spa facility through an underground journey of nearly a kilometer. The numerous springs with diverse chemical compositions and the exploitation of their therapeutic virtues have fostered the development of the center. The healing properties of the waters from the Rio Fabbro were probably discovered by the Romans, who were very attentive, at least among the more culturally advanced classes, to the natural care of the body.
