A family district close to the capital

The municipality of Strassen has 10,316 inhabitants with 115 different nationalities on 01.01.2023. 61% of the inhabitants are non-Luxembourgers.

Located in the west and on the outskirts of Luxembourg City, Strassen benefits from a privileged situation due to its proximity to the capital and also thanks to its two major roads (the Arlon road and the A6 motorway) which directly link Luxembourg City to Belgium.

With more than 700 companies located in the municipality, Strassen offers employment prospects and increased economic dynamism.

The Buergbrennen is an old tradition that takes place on the first Sunday of Lent. It heralds the end of winter and the arrival of spring. A large wooden bonfire is built and burnt at nightfall.

Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month in the car park of the Paul Barblé Cultural Centre, there is a fortnightly market for fresh, alternative, ecological and sustainable products. Here are some of the products sold at the market: fruit, vegetables, local meat, olives, antipasti, pasta, pizza, honey.

The infrastructure dedicated to sport and culture allows the inhabitants of Strassen to benefit from a wide range of activities, supervised by numerous sports associations. The multi-sports hall allows, among other things, to practice gymnastics and all types of ball sports, while the swimming centre "Les Thermes" offers numerous aquatic activities. Strassen is also home to the National Martial Arts Hall, which was opened in 2017, and a long-distance archery centre.

Outside, the municipality has several children's playgrounds and an outdoor fitness area. With 418 hectares of forest, Strassen is part of one of the largest forest areas in Luxembourg with hiking trails, forest sports trails and bicycle paths.

The municipal administration is constantly improving its services so that Strassen is a pleasant and attractive municipality for everyone and all ages. Recently, the municipality has made two mobile applications available to its residents:
