Petrosino: Location and surroundings of this property

Petrosino is a recently built coastal municipality, created on land previously belonging to Marsala and Mazara del Vallo. The name derives from the Sicilian 'Pitrusinu' meaning parsley. The village of Petrosino was founded in 1632 thanks to Englishman John Woodhouse (creator of the world-famous Marsala wine), with the construction of a baglio whose portal became the town's coat of arms. Petrosino is characterised by a splendid sea, populated by numerous marine species. In the period between June and April there is a transit of tuna, and it is even possible to admire some dolphins or turtles laying their eggs on the beach. Among the most beautiful beaches is the Torrazza shoreline, consisting of a wide sandy inlet and crystal-clear waters. The shoreline offers many opportunities for diving activities, with depths ranging from 10 to 60 metres. In the southernmost part of the province of Trapani, bordering Petrosino is one of the last surviving coastal wetlands in Sicily, the Protected Area of Capo Feto consists of some 453 hectares of sand dunes and small expanses of water, a paradise for kitesurfers.
