Nea Ionia is the connecting point of the north with the southern suburbs and the western suburbs with the east, for the city of Athens. One of the most interesting commercial districts of the city, with shops of all kinds. It also has nearly two of the most well-known shopping malls in Greece. Nea Ionia was in the past one of the most important textile regions of the country. The production and the factories supported thousands of families, mostly refugees, who were the main population. Enough traditional buildings housing units textile production, have been restored and maintained a memory that evokes nostalgia. Access to main roads is direct and all 3 electric railway stations passing through city center of Nea Ionia, are an important facility for its inhabitants. Of course, the green element is not missing as it is surrounded by large parks such as the Veikou Grove and the New Philadelphia Grove.
