We have seven sales consultants, each one specialising in a different area of La Coruña, all with their own unique charm. Throughout our blog, we will be presenting each of these areas, don't miss it!
Calle Real and Avenida de la Marina: two key areas in the heart of La Coruña
The Calle Real is one of the most important arteries of La Coruña, both for its central location and its history. It is one of the oldest and most commercial streets in the city, and its life runs through a vibrant environment of shops, cafés and all kinds of venues. This street, along with the nearby Barrera Street, Galera y Franja the streets of Barrera, Galera and Franja form a very popular tapas and wine area among the locals.
Along its route, the Calle Real is a pedestrianised area that comes alive, especially at peak times, with its buildings adorned with the typical white glazed galleries and cobbled streets. It is not only a place of great commercial activity, but also one of the city's nerve centres, much frequented by those who enjoy the unique atmosphere of La Coruña.
History of Calle Real: a journey through La Coruña's past
Calle Real has a fascinating history, as it was created in Roman times and has witnessed important moments in the history of the city. A curious detail is that in 1827, the following was established in this street Villar Pharmacy, which is still the oldest in Galicia (together with the one in Couceiro in Betanzos).
Furthermore, in 1885, at number 20 Calle Real, a young Fine Arts student held his first exhibition. That student was none other than Pablo Picasso one of the most important artists in history. This fact gives the street an immense cultural value, making it a reference point for art and history lovers.
Calle Real: an obligatory stroll to get to know La Coruña
Calle Real is an essential route for those who wish to discover the true charm of La Coruña. It is one of the most mythical and emblematic streets in the city, with a unique energy, especially during the busiest seasons of the year. Whether for shopping, enjoying a coffee or strolling through its historic atmosphere, Calle Real is a place where tradition meets modernity.
Avenida de la Marina: the soul of the "City of Glass"
On the other hand, another part of my area of action is the Avenida de la Marina one of the most emblematic arteries of the city, together with the parallel Calle Real. This area is known as the "City of Glass due to its famous glass galleries, which reflect the daylight and provide a special illumination, making the Avenue a place of great visual beauty.
The Avenida de la Marina is home to one of the largest glazed complexes in the world, and is one of the most representative images of La Coruña. It stretches from Los Cantones to the Avenida de Montoto next to the Port of La Coruña. The old fishermen's houses in the area are adorned by these galleries, which functioned as a thermal chamber, protecting the façades from the rain and allowing a fluid visual relationship between the interior and exterior of the houses.
A neighbourhood full of life and tradition
Along the Avenida de la Marina, there are several important official buildings, such as the Diputación, Post Office post Office, the Port Authority and the Subdelegation of the Government. In addition to its institutional relevance, this area is full of life at any time of the day. Restaurants, bars and terraces flood the avenue, making it a vibrant and busy place for locals and tourists alike.
Currently, the Avenida de la Marina is undergoing a renovation that runs along the entire promenade, which will give a new face to this emblematic area of the city. This renovation will bring freshness to the traditional glass façade, preserving its essence and improving its functionality.
Conclusion: a walk through the soul of La Coruña
Both the Calle Real and the Avenida de la Marina are areas that capture the essence of La Coruña. Between their history, shops, cafés and unique architecture, both represent the best of our city, combining tradition, modernity and a vibrant atmosphere. If you visit La Coruña, you can't miss these places that are, without a doubt, the heart of the city.
