Juan-Galo Macià appointed President of Engel & Völkers Latam
In addition to his leadership in Iberia, Macià takes on this new executive role to extend the success and growth achieved in the Iberian Peninsula to Latin America.
Macià, previously CEO for Spain, Portugal, and Andorra, aims to establish the Latin American market as a global benchmark.
Engel & Völkers has announced the promotion of Juan-Galo Macià as President of Latin America to further establish the company as the leading luxury real estate broker in the Hispanic world. Macià takes over this role in addition to his position as CEO of the company`s brokerage business in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra. Under Macia`s leadership the Iberian market experienced remarkable growth and developed as a strong strategic region for the German real estate company. “We are highly committed to further growth in this market and to expand our presence in Latin America,” says Jawed Barna, CEO of the Engel & Völkers Group. In his new additional role Macià will lead the activities in Latin America - including those countries already operating under the Engel & Völkers brand.
The company’s new goals for Latin America are ambitious: “We aim to achieve double-digit growth every year until 2030, reaching over $1.5 billion in transaction volume and quadrupling EBITDA in the next five years,” Macià states. The combination of the operations in Iberia and Latin America under Macià’s leadership will strengthen synergies between these regions, which share historical ties, language, and culture, ultimately increasing sales and market share in the luxury real estate sector.
The new President of Engel & Völkers for Latam will continue working from the regional office in Barcelona, home to the company’s first proprietary business center (Market Center), which Macià successfully implemented. Since its launch in August 2012, Macià has consolidated this innovative business model in Barcelona, leading to the creation of 22 additional Market Centers worldwide over the past 12 years, eight of which are in Iberia.
Macià holds a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, and Public Relations from ESERP Business School. He also earned a Master’s in Real Estate Advisory and Consulting from the University of Barcelona, a Master’s in Commercial and Marketing Management from ISM-ESIC, and completed the PADE Senior Business Management Program at IESE Business School. Before joining Engel & Völkers in 2012, Macià worked for the American multinational Citibank, where he gained extensive experience in various consumer sales channels.
