Sant Esteve d'en Bas, the current administrative capital of the Vall d'en Bas, is perched on a small hill overlooking a wide plain of cultivated fields. Arriba del Puig is a Romanesque-style parish church, one of the most important in the region. The first documented news dates back to the beginning of the 10th century. From finds discovered in the same place it can be deduced that even before Christianization a small tea could be settled.
