In progressSon Serra de Marina is a small settlement within the municipal district of Santa Margalida, located between the unspoilt beaches of Sa Canova and Son Real on the Bay of Alcúdia. The buildings are all houses, most of which are used as second homes during the months of summer by people from inland Mallorca and other parts of Europe. The beach of Son Serra de Marina is located within this residential area; it is 400 m long and 100 m wide. The beach of Son Real is an unspoilt stretch of coast with a pool at the mouth of the torrent of Son Real, with fine white sand stretching along for 500 m, with a width that varies between 20 and 70 metres. This is a beautiful spot which is easy to reach and which never gets crowded. S´Arenal d´En Cassat is an unspoilt beach, which is 1,000 m long and 25 m wide. It has a dune system which is fixed down with vegetation and a pine forest behind it; this forms part of the nature reserve of Son Real and provides a good example of what the coast of Mallorca was like before the construction of the island’s large tourist resorts. There is also a small port in Son Serra de Marina, few restaurants, Chemist and a small supermarket for the daily shopping.
