Holm oaks, cork oaks, gall oaks, rockrose bushes, strawberry trees and heathers, wild olive trees, rocky areas and banks with junipers and cornicabras, only a part of the rich vegetation that we find in the National Park of Monfragüe. One of the 15 National Parks in Spain, located in the province of Cáceres, between Plasencia, Trujillo and Navalmoral de la Mata. The name of Monfragüe comes from the Romans who called it Monsfragorum and in 1979 it was declared a Natural Park and was created to protect the territory: native forest and scrubland characteristic of the Mediterranean forest. In 1991 it was declared a Special Protection Area for Birds, later extended in May 2004 to the current SPA "Monfragüe and surrounding meadows" which covers the 116,160 hectares that coincide with the Peripheral Protection Area of the National Park. Since 2003 it has also been designated a Biosphere Reserve in recognition of the centuries-long relationship between man and the environment. In March 2007 it was officially declared a National Park. This park, in the south of the region of La Vera (Gredos), is crossed by two rivers, the Tajo and the Tiétar. From the swimming pool you can see Gredos Mountains.
