The ancient parish of Getxo is a municipality in the coast province of Biscay, in the Basque Country. It is located on the right bank of the estuary of Bilbao, at the mouth of Ibaizábal-Nervión river. It is part of the region of Greater Bilbao and the Bilbao metropolitan area. Neguri´s name, was created by Resurrección María Azkue, former named Aretxetaurre. Neguri comes from the fusion of two Basque words: Negua and Hiri (winter and city).
