€175,000

  • 5 Bedrooms
  • 2 Bathrooms
  • 340 m² Total surface
  • 600 m² Plot surface

Description

The house, which is a restored former Mudejar convent, is built in stone masonry, typical of buildings of the period. From the Plaza we enter through a large entrance hall, which is closed by a glass door, and from there we go into the piano room. The ceilings in this room, as in the previous one, are half-pointed vaults typical of Extremadura, and the partition walls are more than 90 cm thick. At the back we find a large living-dining room all under a splendid barrel vault and a small sitting room with a fireplace with a large wood-burning cooker. Through a beautiful period wooden door, we reach the TV room connected to the porch which gives access to the garden. The garden is very natural, with Mediterranean trees such as olive trees, pomegranate trees, almond trees and oleanders. In the courtyard we have a fig tree, a viburnum, a yucca and a lemon tree. There is enough space for a good sized swimming pool. At the other end, and next to the dining room, we find the kitchen fully equipped with electrical appliances and recently refurbished. The first floor is accessed by a staircase with balustrade and on reaching the landing, on the right is a very spacious bedroom with an entrance to a bathroom, and to the left is a hallway which leads to the master bedroom, previously passing through a bedroom-dressing room, with a fireplace, which has another wood burning cooker inside. The master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom.

Location: Bienvenida, Extremadura

The house is situated in a square in Bienvenida, which is known in the village as El Escorial, because it is part of the convent of the Order of the Conceptionist Seraphic Sisters, founded 300 years ago in 1723, and as an ecclesiastical construction it is very solid. It is only a few metres from the Town Hall, the Main Square and the Parish Church. In the surrounding area there are bars, shops, chemists and everything that makes a village so pleasant to live in. The village of Bienvenida belongs to the province of Badajoz in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.
