YesVallgorguina is a municipality located in the east of Vallès Oriental between the Montnegre and Corredor mountain ranges, bordering the Maresme region. It has a long history that goes from the prehistoric remains of the dolmen of the Pedra Gentil, with numerous legends about witches and black magic, to an ancient nucleus of the eighteenth century. The routes and paths through the surroundings reveal old abandoned hermitages such as Santa Eulàlia de Tapioles, of Romanesque origin, and farmhouses from different periods and styles. The climate of Vallgorguina is coastal Mediterranean, influenced by the nearby Catalan coastal and pre-coastal mountain ranges; temperatures are mild throughout the year, although winters can be very cold. The proximity of the mountains favors thermal inversion. Rainfall is abundant, compared to the coast, and summers are warm. The exploitation of the forest was the traditional activity in the past, nowadays the cork industry is an important model of circular economy. The industrial sector is also an important source of income for the municipality. The same has happened with the service sector, which has increased considerably in recent years. The primary sector is practically reduced to rain-fed agriculture, mainly the cultivation of cereals, fodder and vineyards. Livestock and poultry farming complement the economy of the municipality. It is an ideal enclave for lovers of hiking and mountain biking.
