Cala d'Or, the ‘Golden Bay’, is a charming municipality with around 4,000 inhabitants in the Migjorn region, only around 60 kilometres south of Palma. The next largest town, Santanyí, is around 15 kilometres away, and it only takes around 45 minutes to get to Cala d'Or from Palma airport. The rugged coastline around the town is criss-crossed by numerous small, fine sandy bays - everyone will find their own personal favourite beach here, and a stroll through Cala d'Or is a clear contrast to the typical holiday resorts of Mallorca. The architecture is characterised by a unique lightness: Most of the buildings are only two storeys high, their gleaming white façades harmonising perfectly with the pine trees that line the streets. The cubic architectural style, together with the charming white houses, is reminiscent of the relaxed atmosphere of Ibiza and lends the town a very special charm.Cala d'Or is lively in the summer months, while in the off-season it is much quieter. The exclusive marina of Cala d'Or is one of the larger and more luxurious marinas on the island with almost 600 berths. The harbour area offers a variety of bars and restaurants that provide the perfect setting for a relaxed evening - especially at sunset, when the golden light reflects on the water.
