A Roman road and a spring mark the origin of Cal Blau. By Montjuïc a Roman road traveled from Barcino to Valentia. In Barcelona until the mid-twentieth century, it was customary for the popular classes to approach the Montjuïc mountain to celebrate or celebrate festivities around one of the many existing springs. In the 1940s, the city grew invading the slopes of the mountain and the popular fountains were hidden or abandoned. Cal Blau was built in 1949 on one of the walls of the Roman road mentioned above and just in the access to one of those natural sources, known as "La Mina". The house was built by Feliu Guitó who, influenced by the nearby gardens, by the exhibition pavilions and by his friend the architect Coderch, wanted to reflect in the house the overture, the air, the smell and the color of his city, his mountain and the sea that bathes them: the Mediterranean.
