Sarriá was an independent town from the Barcelona City Council until 1921, when it was added to the municipality of Barcelona. Since then, it has been one of the neighborhoods that make up the Sarriá-San Gervasi district. The first written information preserved about the town dates back to the 10th century. Initially, the town was an area dedicated to the agricultural sector, especially wine, but later it attracted wealthy families. Today's Sarriá combines corners where you can easily remember the old rural town, especially around Calle Major de Sarriá, with modern areas and major communication routes.
