Banyalbufar: Location and surroundings of this property

As you turn the last curve on the sinuous road leading up to this village, coming upon Banyalbufar for the first time is a unique experience: suddenly a majestic marine overview emerges before your eyes, surrounded by terraces of various heights, which are dotted with sheep, fruit and olive trees. It is a genuine ‘picture postcard’. The name of the town, means ‘embedded in the mountains’. During the X Century, Arabs furrowed close to 2000 houses into the sides of its mountains, designing an irrigation system still in use today. For the wine made with the Malvasía grapes native to Banyalbufar. During the past decades production had fallen, but a thriving Banyalbufar wine cooperative is bent on reviving it. Banyalbufar sports a surprising variety of historical sites, cafés, bars, hotels and restaurants. In its vicinity lie the fishing port Es Port des Canonge, a number of coves and sand, pebble or rock beaches, such as Es Corral Fals y Son Bunyola. Cala de Banyalbufar in the town itself, can only be reached on foot, climbing down a steep hill. At the end of the path is a modest yet invigorating waterfall.
