La Masía del Vilar is an emblematic rural building that stands in a picturesque and serene setting, surrounded by gardens that embrace its surroundings. This agricultural retreat, with centuries of history, reflects traditional Catalan architecture, combining functionality and aesthetics in perfect balance.
It is a property with an incredible history dating back to the 12th century. Possibly, one of the largest to be found in the area distributed in first floor, second floor and under cover. The core of the house is square and has an annex that gives it an L shape.
The interior of the Masía del Vilar is equally charming, with spacious rooms that preserve the antique furniture, restored to maintain its original splendor. The exposed stone walls and ceilings with exposed wooden beams create a cozy atmosphere full of history. The rooms, decorated with rustic yet elegant elements, offer a haven of peace and tranquility, with windows framing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
The second floor is a true reflection of the nobility of yesteryear, where we find the main hall of more than 100 m² where balls and large gatherings were held. This hall gives access to the 4 noble rooms that have their own anteroom and the bedroom itself with its double bed facing north and its own washbasin, offering privacy and comfort. It also has other rooms such as the room for the chaplain who ran the chapel located on the estate. On the same floor there are different lounges, dining rooms, fireplace room with the original wraparound bench, the music room with its piano, a library with books, antique scrolls and the original furniture stamped with the coat of arms of the house.
On this level there is also the kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 terraces, access to the rear garden of 6000 m² through a cantilever bridge, access to both the upper and lower part of the church and access to the porticoed and glass-enclosed gallery which in winter is the warmest part of the house with sun all day.
History comes to life as you walk up the main staircase, which has an 18-meter high interior tower. On the first floor are the old cow stables, the wine cellar located on the north side, which preserves the essence of the past, as well as the horse stables, an interior well, a small floor where the service was housed and a secondary staircase that leads directly to the second floor in the part where the masoveros currently reside.
It is worth mentioning the incredible library in the house, as well as the chapel.
In the farmhouse, life goes by at the rhythm of nature, and there is an air of authenticity and connection with the roots. Here, visitors can enjoy the simplicity and charm of rural life, experience the rich local culture and immerse themselves in an atmosphere that invites reflection and relaxation. Masia del Vilar is not only a testament to traditional Catalan architecture and life, but also a sanctuary where time seems to stand still, allowing all who visit to enjoy a truly special environment.
