Valdesoto is a village in the council of Siero, located at an altitude of 240 m, at a crossroads of several roads. The main roads in Valdesoto are the AS-1, known as the Autovía Minera between Gijón and Mieres, the AS-246, known as the Carretera Carbonera, between Gijón and Langreo, and the local roads SI-8, SI-11 and SI-16. In addition, the Autovía del Cantábrico motorway passes very close to the parish, with a junction in the capital of the municipality, Pola de Siero, just 4 kilometres from Valdesoto. The narrow-gauge FEVE railway line between Gijón and Laviana also crosses the parish, with two halts within its boundaries. Valdesoto stands out for its intense associationism and also for its fiestas, dedicated to San Félix, the second weekend in August, in which the Parade of Floats is held, a fiesta declared to be of regional tourist interest in 2002. It is an ideal area for enjoying nature, with walks and routes through its incredible mountains and adjacent villages, as well as enjoying the wide range of gastronomy on offer in the area.
