The most remarkable buildings are the baroque parish church, dedicated to Santa Margarida, patron saint of the main festival, the Borràs House, with the nobiliary shield, and the castle Montoliu de Santa Margarida known as the Castellot, old fortress of the s. XII, that after suffering the War of Independence, was very deteriorated. In the Riera de Gaià passes the Gaia River, which enters the natural region of Baix Gaià by the northern end of the Solomon area. In the first kilometers of the route it makes comarcal limit until the dam of Catllar and contours the massif of Bonastre. The municipal term of the Riera reunites to its population in three small villages: the block of Montoliu, the one of the Riera, and the one of Virgili, that still subsists. Although industry and commerce are the predominant sectors, the cultivation of hazel trees, carob trees and olive trees continue to be an outstanding source of income for the municipality.
