Diagonal Mar Maritime Front This is, so far, the newest neighbourhood in Barcelona, and is still in process of formation and consolidation. Lifting its end borders the grounds and facilities where developed the Forum of Cultures 2004, and the entire office buildings and hotels in its environment. The central sector of the district corresponds to the two sets called Diagonal Mar: the original is a large block of flats in stages occupying three blocks long and two meters high, and was one of the few who were facing the Diagonal for the long decades in which were open only small sections of the great avenue. The other set, much larger and developed from the late 90's, includes several blocks of flats, a shopping mall and the large Diagonal Mar park designed by the famous architect Enric Miralles. Finally, along the west coast, it is the new sector called Maritime Front, made up of 5 islands housing with central gardens. Behind them inward, there is a group of islands where ancient structures coexist as the unique set of the street in the industrial -before Pellaires and now restored in modern workshops and studies, such as designer marshal along with other new or in transformation. Its location next to the sea and excellent communication with the main urban roads and public transport network make it one of the most popular districts of Barcelona, bordered by beaches well equipped and maintained.
