La Batllòria is a Spanish town in the municipality of Sant Celoni, in the province of Barcelona. La Batllòria was well known for its inn at the foot of the old road that linked Girona and Barcelona, the royal road, which was therefore very busy. As it was such a long route, the journey was normally made in two days, which is why it was necessary to spend the night in hostels halfway along the way (Vilalba Sasserra, San Celoni, Gualba de Baix, la Batlloria, Riells i Viabrea, Hostalric...). This fact led to the growth of the population centre, which experienced a significant increase between the 15th and 16th centuries, giving rise to the Batllòria that we know today.
