Prestigious restaurants in Palma de Mallorca

The island’s capital city sparkles with Michelin stars in and around its historic Old Town.

1. Zaranda

Zaranda is one such restaurant, which has reopened inside the five-star boutique hotel, Es Princep. Chef Fernando P. Arellano is now working his magic here, having worked in some of Europe’s most acclaimed restaurants. At Zaranda, Arellano received his first Michelin star in 2006 and his tasting menus are a testament to this high acclamation, weaving together creative culinary skill and fresh regional ingredients with flair.

2. DINS by Santi Taura

Michelin-starred since 2020, DINS by Santi Taura is steps away from the Gothic cathedral that symbolises the historic heart of the city. Chef Santi Taura honours his island by uniting the authentic flavours of traditional Mallorcan cooking with contemporary techniques and unexpected artful combinations. Enjoy a pre or post-dinner cocktail on the rooftop and survey the characterful Casco Antiguo and the Mediterranean coast.

3. Adrián Quetglas

Last but by no means least, two other of Palma’s gastronomic institutions possess stars: Adrián Quetglas and Marc Fosh, both named after their head chefs and owners. The former is a relaxed, bistro-style restaurant serving haute cuisine that blends the worldwide experiences of its Argentinian head chef filtered through a Mediterranean lens. The five or seven-step tasting menus are a delicate and elegant fusion of surprising and unforgettable tastes.

4. Marc Fosh

British chef Marc Fosh has two restaurants on the island where he has lived for over 20 years. The one that holds the Michelin star is tucked away inside the 17th-century Hotel Convent de la Missió, where the minimalist dining room is dedicated to contemporary Mediterranean cuisine artfully prepared using the finest local produce from across the Balearic Islands. Offering lunch and dinner tasting menus, Marc Fosh showcases original flavour combinations specialising in regional fish, meat and rice dishes.

5. Fusion 19

A new Michelin starred restaurant was named in the recent awards ceremony. Fusion 19 in the nothern Playa de Muro headed up by a young chef from Palma, Javier Hoebeeck who has joined Mallorca’s growing list of stars. At Fusion 19 international flavours are being merged while being loyal to the local gastronomy and using mainly seasonal local products.

6. Maca de Castro

Situated in scenic Puerto de Alcúdia on the north coast, Maca de Castro is another fine Michelin-starred restaurant that serves elegant and authentic dishes. The contemporary dining room is set on the first floor of a villa, where you can enjoy the tasting menu that exemplifies the highest levels of technical skill, reimagining time-honoured Mallorcan dishes with a diverse range of flavours and ingredients.

Puerto de Alcúdia is a family-friendly resort town with a small population that lives there throughout the year.  A beautiful and tranquil location, the port is well equipped with facilities and services plus a clement climate. If you’re thinking about buying a home on the island, Puerto de Alcudia could be exactly what you’re looking for: private properties with dramatic views and sprawling gardens are commonly found in this area. Could one be your dream home?

7. Béns d'Avall

Nestled in the town of Sóller in the Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bens d’Avall offers first-class Mallorcan cuisine that has been Michelin-starred since 2020. Fusing traditional recipes with modern cooking techniques since 1971, Bens d’Avall is situated on the western coastal road between Sóller and Deià with excellent sea views from its terrace. Two highly desirable residential areas for their truly stunning settings, Sóller and Deià combine coastal and mountain living, which adds value to the properties in this protected region. Prices are on a higher scale, but the idyllic views and sense of otherworldliness are worth it.

8. Es Fum

Moving to the southwest of Mallorca, Costa d’en Blanes is home to Es Fum, a Mediterranean restaurant that received a Michelin star in 2011. Chef Miquel Navarro’s diverse menu is filled with delicious specialities with the choice of a 6, 8 or 10-course menu.

As one of the most sought after residential areas on the island, Mallorca’s southwest offers many high-end properties for sale or rent year-round. Due to the mixed international community, there are great facilities, international schools, restaurants, shops and an excellent road network. Plus, there are many charming villages and traditional towns alongside numerous ports and marinas where rows of yachts sit waiting to be taken out on the Mediterranean. The region’s most distinctive features? Proximity to Palma and its airport, stunning sandy beaches and kilometres of spectacular coastline. The Latin verb “voro” meaning “to devour” aptly describes a guest’s experience of the two tasting menus that reinterpret heritage recipes to create fresh and contemporary dishes.
