After Portugal's announcement to eliminate the Golden Visa, many are wondering what it consists of and what are the necessary requirements to obtain it.
More common than it seems, Spain is one of the favourite destinations for many investors; attracted by the sun, the gastronomy and the culture, they venture to buy a house or invest in the Spanish dream.
Specifically, the Golden Visa refers to the residence card or permit within Spanish territory for non-EU foreign investors, through a document that is regulated in Article 63 of Law 14/2013, of 27 September. It basically consists of an official authorisation for non-residents wishing to enter Spanish territory for the purpose of making a large capital investment.
It is an opportunity to reside for 12 months, which can be extended if the relevant requirements are met a posteriori.
