In fact, its calendar is full of festivals, fairs and events that highlight the native flavors and culinary techniques of the region.
In the hot months, the meadows filled with pastures and flowers compose a postcard image that is only comparable to the imposing mountains and lush trees that surround it. But when the snow falls, it becomes the most important ski center in the Pyrenees, receiving thousands of tourists a year in the Alp 2500 ski area.

History of Alp
The municipality was erected a little before the ninth century with the consecration of the parish of Urgell. Five hundred years later, their lands were divided between the King and the noble families of Urtx and Castellbó. During the following years, the town went through many hands and transfers of property until it joined the vaguería of Puigcerdà in 1800.
Skiing also has its history in this part of Cerdanya. La Molina ski resort was founded in 1909 and hosts important international competitions. Masella followed in 1967 and the area ended up becoming a must stop for winter sports lovers.
Visit the ski resorts: La Molina and Masella that offer activities for all ages at any time of the year. Its mountains and tracks are frequented in winter by tourists and locals who have fun on the snow riding skis, sleds, snowboards or snow bikes.
First ski resort in Cerdanya, open since 1909 flourishing with the arrival of the train in 1922 and its first ski lift in 1943. Its famous Pista Llarga track, ideal for beginners, is surrounded by services such as shops, equipment rentals, bars and restaurants. Hikking, river fishing and bicycle touring are just some of the popular activities in this area. Its natural enclaves are also perfect for taking pictures, landscaping or sitting with friends to enjoy the good weather.

As the majority of ceretan cuisine it uses products of local origin, open markets sell a wide variety of native ingredients, such as vegetables, fruits, honey, turnips, cheeses, cereals, sausages and prime meats.
Within the town, there are a number of restaurants where you can try the typical dishes of the town. Although the trinxat with bacon is one of the most requested, they are also praised by other recipes, such as grilled meats, game dishes, rabbit with mushrooms, mountain rice, cheese platter and sausages, duck with turnips, cannelloni of truffle, Catalan cream, mel i mato ... among others.
Apart from its splendid natural surroundings, its old streets lend themselves to walks on foot or by bicycle and thus visit historical sites and regional cultural heritages, mostly of medieval origin:
