The Bergedorf villa district

North of Wentorfer Strasse, on a ridge between the old town center in the west and Bergedorfer Gehölz in the east, lies the Bergedorf villa district. It is one of the most popular residential areas in the east of Hamburg. The location on the Bergedorfer Gehölz and the magnificent Art Nouveau buildings and coffee mills characterize this residential area. A large number of listed buildings give the Bergedorf villa area its unique charm. To the south of Wentorfer Strasse, the Hamburg Observatory, built in 1912, extends across a park with an ensemble of listed neo-baroque domed buildings.

Characteristic of the residential area to the south of Wentorfer Strasse are the red-brick detached and semi-detached houses on densely grown-in plots. The Bergedorf city center is within walking distance. The weekly market is well established and offers a variety of regional products.

The two renowned schools, Luisen-Gymnasium and Hansa-Gymnasium, are located in the villa area. The Montessori school and the Montessori children's house are located in the area south of Wentorfer Strasse.

The only preserved castle in Hamburg, Bergedorf Castle, which is surrounded by a park with a large pond, is just a few minutes away.

Hamburg city center is also not far away. The nearest bus stop and Bergedorf train station are just a few minutes away. From there it is about 20 minutes to the city center. The slip road to the A25 is only a few minutes' drive away and therefore offers good connections.
