EVERYTHING ABOUT THE AREA

Discover Fürstenberg

Fürstenberg is one of 15 districts of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It has around 12,000 residents, making it the third largest district in Konstanz by population. The district is located north of the core city of Konstanz, between the districts of Wollmatingen and Petershausen-West, along State Road 220. The area includes the Fürstenberg hill, which is used as a recreational area. The district's origins date back to 1830 when brewer Carl Barxell purchased Fürstenberg from the municipality of Wollmatingen to establish a beer cellar on the northern slope of the mountain. The economic operation on Fürstenberg ended in the mid-19th century, and in the early 20th century, the Herosé factory and a settlement were built on the western side of the mountain. In 1932, the city of Konstanz purchased the northeastern part of Fürstenberg from Barxell, and later that same year, acquired the rest of the area.

Accessibility and public transport

The closest motorway entrance is the A7, which is just 10 minutes away by car.

Green spaces and nature

The Fürstenberg hill offers a recreational area for residents and visitors. Additionally, the nearby Wollmatinger Ried - Untersee - Gnadensee nature reserve provides a beautiful natural escape. One of the outstanding nature spots in the area is Lake Bodensee. The district is also close to the Überlinger See and Gnadensee, adding to its natural charm.

Shopping and amenities

Fürstenberg is known for its great shopping possibilities. Families will find excellent childcare facilities such as the Zeppelin-Gewerbeschule and the Montesori-Haus kindergarten. The area boasts great healthcare facilities.

Sport and leisure

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the numerous sports facilities available, including the Kinderbereich swimming pool, Sportplatz Wollmatingen sports centre, and the Schwaketenbad water park. The district is also known for its great dining scene.

Summary

Fürstenberg is a vibrant suburb of Konstanz, known for its rich history, recreational areas, and excellent amenities. Its green spaces, proximity to lakes and seas, and a variety of sports and shopping facilities make it an ideal area for families and individuals alike.
