'The island of Tuscany in Lombardy', so Gabriele D'Annunzio called Castiglione Olona. Castiglione Olona is a municipality in the province of Varese of about 8,000 inhabitants. It is about 45 minutes by car from Milan and Como, and only 15/20 minutes from Varese and the Swiss border. The nearest town is Tradate, a little more than 10 minutes by car, but various services such as primary and secondary schools, railway station and bus stops, supermarkets and medical services, are located within the municipality itself or not far from its borders. The main road in the village is the secant portion of the state road known as 'Varesina', connecting Varese and Milan. The municipality of Castiglione Olona is home to, among others, the Collegiata, Palazzo Branda Castiglioni and Monteruzzo Castle.
