Intra is the historic center of the town, absolutely recommended a walking tour in the beautiful pedestrian center full of stores and bars where you can have an aperitif in summer or enjoy a good chocolate in winter. Taking the scenic bike path along the Lake, one can reach Pallanza on foot (in about 30 minutes from Intra); during the walk, one can admire first the futuristic forms of the new theater "Il Maggiore" and then the famous botanical garden of Villa Taranto, open from March to October, which houses a very rich variety of flowers and rare plants so much so that it has been called by many the most beautiful garden in Italy. Past the hillock of "Castagnola," one of the city's most exclusive residential areas, one arrives in the center of Pallanza, home to the Museo del Paesaggio, which houses most of the works of impressionist sculptor Paolo Troubetzkoy. At the end of Pallanza's beautiful lakeside promenade, one finally arrives in the hamlet of Suna, a pretty hamlet full of fine restaurants and bars, which extends to the slopes of Monterosso.
