Gerra lies 216 metres above sea level and has around 300 inhabitants. From here you have a wonderful view of the Maggia delta, the Verzasca valley, Ascona, Locarno and the surrounding mountains. It has its own lido with bar and beautiful sunbathing lawn and a landing stage for boats. Gerra also has its own railway station and a small supermarket. The many sights in this region include the Eisenhut Botanical Garden in Vairano and the mountain village of Indemini.
