Known as the most romantic Italian lake, Lago d’Orta is a pre-alpine lake, located a few kilometres away from Lago Maggiore and just an hour-ride from Milan and Tourin. With its restaurants, as well as resorts and accommodation facilities of a rare beauty, Lago d’Orta is also famous for hosting renown chefs and entrepreneurs. In the middle we can spot San Giulio Island, symbol of this land, which attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year. Going northward, we will first meet Oira, worth a visit, and then Omegna, one of the biggest towns, where the Strona river curiously flows backwards. Surrounded by green mountains, it also offers a great variety of natural paths, some leading up to the summit of Monte Mottarone, above Stresa.
