The Mieminger Plateau is a real stroke of luck for connoisseurs: at an altitude of 800 to 1,000 meters above sea level and with more than 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, it is nestled in an extraordinary natural landscape, just 35 minutes by car from the provincial capital of Innsbruck. The village was first mentioned as “Meiminga superior et inferior” 950 years ago in the foundation charter of the monastery of St. Gertrud in Augsburg, dated 1071, during a period of little writing in the transition from the early Middle Ages to the High Middle Ages. The municipality of Mieming on the Mieminger Plateau, also known as the sunny plateau, impresses with its wonderful location at the foot of the Mieminger Kette. Many hours of sunshine and relatively little influence from foehn winds, as well as its central location in the Upper Inn Valley, have made Mieming a popular excursion destination and place to move to. Mieming with its hamlets of Barwies, Untermieming, Obermieming and See has a population of just under 4,000. With a very good infrastructure, an extremely active club life, sports and leisure facilities (27-hole Mieminger Plateau golf course, swimming pool, bathing lake, playgrounds, tennis courts and 80 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails in winter), Mieming is a place worth living in for all generations.
