The parish of Benfica is today a vast urban and population cluster that coexists in harmony with the old and the modern and with the rural and the urban. It encompasses about two thirds of the Parque Florestal de Monsanto, also known as Lung of Lisbon. The parish has been divided into the main districts of the parish: Boavista, Charquinho, Pedralvas, Calhariz Velho, Calhariz Novo and Santa Cruz (“FóFó”), since 1895, with several national roller hockey and field hockey titles. Most of the monuments in Benfica remained from the old farms, including: Fountain of Benfica, Church of Nossa Senhora do Amparo, Church of Calhariz, Parque Silva Porto, Portas de Benfica, Quinta do Peres, Quinta da Granja, Section of the Aqueduct of Águas Livres, Vila Ana. A parish with a large concentration of services, schools, from basic education to higher education, traditional commerce, shopping centers, public transport and easy access to all parts of the city, such as Parque Silva Porto, Mercado de Benfica, Palácio Baldaya, Colombo Shopping Center, Quinta da Granja and the Superior School of Education.
