The parish of Santo António is the result of the merger of three Lisbon parishes: S. José, Coração de Jesus and São Mamede. Named in honor of Lisbon's patron saint, the parish wants to preserve the past and create new stories in the capital, it wants to integrate all people and companies into community life, to value and preserve emblematic places and it also wants to be an example of innovation, attracting young people and entrepreneurs to this place right in the heart of Lisbon. Bairro Barata Salgueiro, Bairro Camões (inaugurated in 1880 on the tricentenary of the death of the poet Luís de Camões), the Diário de Notícias building, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, the "Franjinhas" building, all reveal the urban dynamics of this place.
The parish includes the famous Avenida da Liberdade, inaugurated at the end of the 19th century, the "Public Promenade" was created like the great European "Boulevards" of the time. This is a noble area of the city in which we find, both to its left and right, large stately mansions that represented the wealth and excellence of the area. Until the end of the 20th century, this area was used by large service companies, but since the beginning of the 2000s there have been large international brands and real estate rehabilitation aimed at the luxury residential market.
