It has a breath-taking view as far as Mount Rosa and even Monviso on the clearest days.
Mount Mottarone is called the "terrace over the seven lakes", thanks to its privileged location from which you can see Lago Maggiore, Lago di Mergozzo, Lago di Varese, Lago d'Orta, Lago di Comabbio, Lago di Monate and Lago di Biandronno. On a clear day, the view from up there is a true natural wonder.
But where is Mottarone exactly? It is the best known and most scenic peak in the area between Verbano and Novarese. A ridge located between Omegna and Stresa, an ideal destination for leisure time in both summer and winter, with the possibility of many outdoor activities, excursions, trekking and some truly unique amusement parks.

Alpyland
On Mount Mottarone there is an attraction for adrenaline lovers, open both in winter and summer. Alpyland is a track on rails that descends from the summit with a course of more than a kilometre - for 100 metres of difference in height - between bends, and sudden changes of level, a sort of rollercoaster with a crazy view, suitable for all ages.
Mottarone Adventure Park
In Mottarone park there is also another ideal place to spend a day of fun with the family. The Mottarone Adventure Park is an adventure park that offers routes differentiated according to age (3 itineraries, starting at age 6) and with state-of-the-art safety systems to guarantee maximum protection. In addition to the itineraries, it is possible to try tree climbing and reach heights of up to 13 metres, again in maximum safety. For the youngest children, from 3 years upwards, there is a Baby area with bridges, ladders and walkways, and the Net experience, a route through the trees at a height of a few metres.
Trekking from Stresa to Mottarone
Walking and trekking enthusiasts will find a wide choice of marked itineraries on Mottarone. One of the most popular, suitable for adults, is a walk of about 12 kilometres from the summit of Mottarone to Stresa. The route takes about four and a half hours, with an altitude difference of about 1300, and is therefore moderately demanding. It is an excursion that can take a day and can also be done starting from Stresa. There are four rings at altitude, with different difficulties: the baby ring, the summit ring, the rock gym ring and the large Mottarone ring, which start from the easiest, also suitable for children, to the ring for experienced hikers. The routes are accessible in all seasons, with snowshoes during the winter.
Bike and e-bike rentals
Of course, especially thanks to the great success of e-bikes, it is now possible to ride many of the routes in the Mottarone Trail Park on pedals. On Mount Mottarone, you can rent bikes at the Bar Stazione and decide which of the 7 routes to tackle. The lengths range from less than one kilometre to around 8 kilometres, with gradients of up to 340 metres.
