The village of Ponte a Ema is a small and peaceful town at the foot of the Fattucchia hill, surrounded by lush greenery and the Ema river, where it’s common to spot giant herons, ducks, and wading birds. The village is equipped with all the main services such as a post office, a bank, a small shopping center, a supermarket, and various artisan shops, including a historic welder. It is just three minutes away from one of Florence's main hospitals (Santa Maria Annunziata), the carabinieri station, and the Florence South highway exit, while also being only 10 minutes from the center of Florence, with excellent connections via bus lines 31 and 32. The village is renowned as the birthplace of the famous cyclist Gino Bartali, a great champion of the past, and even has a museum dedicated to him and the bicycle. Nearby runs the famous State Road 222, which starts from Grassina and reaches Siena, crossing the entire Chianti region, one of the most beautiful routes in Tuscany. Recently, a cycle path has been built, allowing cycling enthusiasts to enjoy wonderful days out.
