The locality of Pondasio in the municipality of Malé, located along the stream Rabbies just before its confluence with the Noce, is placed since the thirteenth century as a place of primary importance for the economy of the area, dotted as it was with mills and forges. A few steps away, the Pondasio Marinelli forge remains one of the few examples of hydraulic forge still working in the Alps. Pondasio is located 500 meters from the village of Malè, which can also be reached by a pedestrian path. Malé, at 740 m altitude, can be considered the main town and market of the Val di Sole.
