Bergamo: Location and surroundings of this property

Via Cucchi is located in the heart of the city of lower Bergamo. Despite its centrality, it enjoys a certain tranquility being a residential and low-traffic street. It is close to the axis connecting lower Bergamo and the upper city, in the vicinity of the propylaea of Porta Nuova, the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, and Piazza Matteotti, with the Palazzo Frizzoni, home of the Town Hall. It is also only a stone's throw from the Sentierone, a wide tree-lined avenue lined with arcades and paved in stone, built by Bergamo merchants in 1620 and considered "the city's living room." On the Sentierone is the Donizetti Theater with its monument to the great composer. At the end of the avenue, the Church of San Bartolomeo, built in the early 17th century on the site of a medieval convent, is worth a visit. In nearby Piazza Dante you can see: the Fountain, the last remnant of the 18th-century Fair, the Palace of Justice, and the Palace of the Bank of Italy (built in the early 1900s by Marcello Piacentini). Continuing from the Sentierone you reach Via XX Settembre, the heart of commercial Bergamo and a favorite shopping destination.
